In May of 1916 when Percy enlisted, his mother was still living. She died that August.

Percy is found in the Canadian 1911 census living on the Havlock Farm with H. G. Benfield who was the manager of the Farm.

In the war, he claimed to have accidentally shot himself in the left arm. " “I was cleaning my rifle and forgot I had it loaded.

I do not know how it went off as I do not remember touching the trigger.”
